Traktor is the industry standard DJ software.
You will need a compatible external sound-card (go on native instruments website to check compatibility) to utilize an external mixer OR a Traktor interface (all in one controller + mixer - TRY BEFORE YOU BUY ! ).
There are several fantastic Traktor external controllers like the X1 and S1 (sample player) which again, have both swiftly become industry standard.
Traktor features up to 4 decks simultaneously, with sample decks capable of storing up to 16 samples per deck. This really helps creativity, as do the intuitive cue+loop features, enabling on the fly remixes of your favorite tunes.
Beat Grid and SYNC enable you to seamlessly mix tunes perfectly into one another. There is also a massive selection of effects in which you can multi-layer per channel.
The record box is my favorite feature, easily enabling the creation of diverse playlists containing single tracks into multiple locations. By this I mean that there is one physical location of your song, but the location can be copied across many multiple instances. Every set list is saved historically and sets are quick and easy to export to USBs or other devices. Click on any artist name, and you can punch up all locations where the artist name appears. And it's iTunes compatible, so you can directly access and play your iTunes library through the Tracktor interface.
It's simply the best software out there, and combined with a Macbook's grunt and power will deliver your sounds the best way that it is possible to deliver.
